TRAVEL SECURITY utmost in people's
minds to ensure they TRAVEL SAFELY.
| TRAVEL SECURITY must rank
high in any risk assessment if executives and families are going to
TRAVEL SAFELY throughout the world. Planning should include a careful
review of your itinerary, including any security threats or terrorist
actions occurring in and around your destination. Without careful
attention to TRAVEL SECURITY, you may walk into an unpleasant surprise,
which prevents you and your loved ones from TRAVELING SAFELY. |

During any trip, especially to a foreign
country, you are most vulnerable to personal harm, robbery or theft at:
- Many foreign airports have little or
no security at the baggage carousel. Never leave your carry-on unattended
or in the care of a stranger while you retrieve your 'checked' luggage;
- En-route to the hotel, especially
in an unfamiliar city, be sure you travel with a reliable cab or
limousine
company.
- Use commonsense when in unfamiliar
places, usually if your conscious say's no then it is usually a good
indication to follow your instincts.
- Do not dress or appear unnatural in
the country you are visiting as this will draw unwanted attention to
you and increase the risk of being targeted by the criminal elements.
- If approached by an unfriendly person
with obvious bad intentions stay calm and if possible strategically
move to a more populated area, if threatened with violence do not resist
and give them what they want, your credit card and cash can be replaced
but you and your family cannot.
- Ensure travel insurance is obtained
and sufficient before departing on your long awaited vacation or business
trip.
TRAVEL SECURITY must be a priority if you want to TRAVEL SAFELY
| At the hotel, if possible,
avoid staying in a room located on the first floor of a hotel. Since
first floor rooms often have sliding doors or windows that are accessible
from ground level, they are a greater security risk than rooms on
higher floors. Second floor to fifth floor rooms are usually a good
choice in the event of a fire, as they are more easily accessible
for rescue purposes than rooms on higher levels. But rarely is room
selection so simple. If you are attending a convention or visiting
during the busy season, your choice of rooms may be limited. And a
more expensive room will not guarantee you greater fire security,
since the most luxurious suites are usually located on the top floors,
and can therefore be more difficult to escape in a fire. Before you
get settled into your assigned room, verify that there is a reasonably
quick access to a fire escape route by window or stairway and make
your self-familiar with the routes out of the hotel (physically walk
the route). |
